Timothy Lim - Assistant Director
Timothy Lim is originally from South Korea. While in college, he sensed God’s calling to become a pastor. He went on to complete a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degree from Liberty University Baptist Theological Seminary.
During his time at seminary, Timothy and several fellow students founded a bus-stop ministry. For over three years, he shared the gospel every Friday with people waiting at a bus stop in downtown Lynchburg, VA, offering donations such as food and clothing.
Over the past ten years, as a Korean immigrant living in American society and participating in both Korean and American churches, Timothy has often experienced deep frustration. He has struggled to understand why many within evangelical circles find it difficult to embrace a truly integrated, multi-ethnic church.
Reading The King Years by Taylor Branch was a turning point for him. The book opened his eyes to the reality of systemic racism through the lens of the American civil rights movement. He came to believe that the Bible not only offers meaningful insight into systemic injustice but also affirms God’s call to confront societal sin as part of advancing His Kingdom. Timothy’s ultimate vision is to lead a Christ-centered, ethnically diverse community united with Christ.
He is serving as the Assistant Director of SoulJourner. He is deeply passionate about the gospel and is committed to encouraging others to join the lifelong journey with Christ.
In his free time, he enjoys studying biblical languages (Greek and Hebrew), listening to music, and watching sports. He also loves spending time with his wife, Hailey, and their two children, Zachary and Zoey.
