About Peter Kim
SoulJourner’s founder, Peter Kim immigrated from South Korea to Dallas, Texas when he was eight years old. Four years later, at a traveling revival in Texas, he committed his life to full-time ministry. To that end, he attended Wheaton College (Illinois), for his B.A. and M.A. degrees. With a heart for missions, he spent the next two years at Jiangsu University in China teaching English to college students. Upon his return to the United States, he attended Princeton Seminary in New Jersey and became an ordained minister. He will receive a Doctor of Ministry in May 2026.
Peter has been a plower and planter by starting ministries at churches in Raleigh, Chicago, and Greensboro. In Charlotte, NC most recently, he was a professor and director of international students at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, a pastor/consultant for a large church (where he helped launch their 7th campus), and worked with a number of non-profit organizations. He has preached for many years across the country and beyond. He is currently on staff at a local church in Winston-Salem, NC.
God has uniquely called Peter to be a leader and bridge among cultures and generations. His multiethnic and multicultural background, unique experiences, and ability to connect with people from all races, ages, and vocations allow for flexibility, openness, and creativity in the way that he serves. He is a mature, humble, Spirit-filled lover of Jesus and His Word who walks with wisdom and insight from rich, diverse ministry experience. He is a disciple maker drawing from his own journey of life’s ups and downs.
Peter is married with two young adult sons. He enjoys sports, fitness, and conversations over coffee.
